The Plastic Cascade Mini Ring, also known as CMR or Plastic Cascade Ring, is a high-efficiency random packing developed as a direct evolution of the Pall ring. Its defining geometric changes are a height-to-diameter ratio of only 0.5 (half that of a standard Pall ring) and a conical flanged end. This low-profile design shortens the distance gas travels through the packing wall, reduces resistance across the bed, and increases voidage. The flanged end also promotes a more structured orientation within the tower, allowing the packing's inner surface to be utilized more effectively.
Compared to Pall rings, the Cascade Mini Ring delivers significantly lower pressure drop and higher capacity at equivalent or better mass transfer efficiency. Its open structure and smooth plastic surface resist fouling and allow solids to be easily flushed through the bed, making it suitable for services with suspended particles or scaling tendency. Manufactured from heat-resistant and chemically resistant thermoplastics including PP, RPP, PE, PVC, CPVC, and PVDF, it is widely used in scrubbing, absorption, desulfurization, decarbonization, and stripping towers across the petroleum, chemical, chlor-alkali, coal gas, and environmental protection industries.
