The PTFE Raschig Ring is the oldest and most fundamental random packing design, consisting of a simple hollow cylinder with equal height and diameter, manufactured from 100% virgin polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Unlike the more complex PTFE Pall Ring, the Raschig Ring has no internal tongues or windows—this simple geometry provides the highest possible voidage, lowest pressure drop, and greatest resistance to clogging, making it ideal for services with high throughput requirements or solids-laden streams. PTFE's exceptional chemical inertness protects against virtually all substances including aqua regia, hydrofluoric acid, and boiling sulfuric acid, while maintaining mechanical integrity from -100°C to +260°C. Its non-stick surface resists fouling and scaling, and extremely low extractables make it suitable for high-purity pharmaceutical and electronic chemical processing.
