    Product Introduction

    Ceramic Foam Filter Product Description

The Ceramic Foam Filter (CFF) is a high-performance filtration medium specifically engineered for the foundry industry. It is produced by impregnating a reticulated polyurethane foam with a ceramic slurry (consisting of ceramic powder, binders, sintering aids, and suspension agents), followed by high-temperature sintering to form a rigid, three-dimensional, open-pore network structure. This unique structure enables the filter to effectively remove non-metallic inclusions, slag, and dross from molten metal streams, significantly improving the quality of castings.

    Product Highlights

    • High Porosity & Superior Filtration Efficiency: Features an open-pore, reticulated structure with 80-90% porosity and 10-60 PPI (pores per inch), providing high permeability and a large surface area for capturing inclusions.
    • Excellent Thermal Shock Resistance: Engineered to withstand the sudden temperature changes when in contact with high-temperature molten metal, maintaining structural integrity throughout the casting process.
    • Multiple Material Options for All Alloys: Available in Alumina (for aluminum, ≤1200°C), Silicon Carbide (for iron & copper, ≤1500°C), and Zirconia (for steel, ≤1700°C), covering the full spectrum of foundry applications.
    • Reduced Turbulence & Improved Flow: The 3D network structure not only filters but also helps to reduce turbulence in the molten metal stream, ensuring a smoother, more controlled pour.
    • Simplified Gating System: Using a CFF can simplify mold gating system design, contributing to higher casting yields and reduced scrap rates.
    • Customizable Shapes & Sizes: Precision-cut into various shapes (square, round, and custom geometries) and sizes (7“ up to 23”) to precisely fit different filter press configurations or pouring cups.
